What is Denite?

The term "Denite" bears no original meaning but is more an artificial creation which again automatically gives it a derived but certainly implied meaning - a link to the arts. At the same time, DENITE also is a brand and a label marking in a subtle way art as fashion and fashion as art for the interested beholder.

The goal is to make urban artwork wearable in form of fashionable clothes. Prolonging the creative process onto objects of utility DENITE is offering contemporary artists the possibility to increase the presence of their creation within daily life.

Within the community of graffiti this question might almost be looked upon as an insult or at least as a blunt prove of ignorance. All those who`s understanding and awareness of graffiti as a form of art within the public space of perception should be reminded that within a list of the worldwide most renown graffiti artists, DAIM`s name would be amongst equals.

DAIM, born in Lüneburg was soon drawn to the nearby metropolis of Hamburg by its tentacles deeply enrooted within the subculture scene. In 1989 he started his career as a free artist and a spray can virtuoso. Only one year later he was commissioned his first remittance work and in 1992 the change of aliases so important for a graffiti artist took place. The latter of course playing a major role within modern street calligraphy.

International art- as well as lecturing work soon led him amongst the midst of transnational artist groups such as GBF, SUK, FBI and FX. Within those brood cells of new styles and techniques DAIM developed a diversity of skills which enabled him to go beyond his roots. Concrete walls were more and more replaced by canvases while spray cans from a hip hop shop were now often amended by mouse clicks in Photoshop. Firstly, two dimensional pictures evolved into bafflingly three dimensional graphics with seemingly unlimited depths and perspective only to finally become sculptures leaving the confinement of flat surfaces entirely.

Similar to artists who often form groups or work together in projects across different regions and disciplines of art, DENITE was formed by people with different origins and disposition.

DAIM is he creative mind of the constellation and lay the foundation for DENITE through is DAIMartwear collections. After making ample experiences through collaborations with brands such as Carhartt und Levi`s time simply was right for his own label and collection.

Axel Täubert, a fan of graffiti and connoisseur of DAIM`s work through his former career as an active rapper puts his background in business administration as well as his work experience in sales, and advertising consulting in good use for marketing and distribution of DENITE.

The required know how in the field of the production and finishing of textiles is contributed by Noax GmbH with experts in logistics and warehousing as well.

Not revolution but innovation as well as evolution are the principals DAIMartwear wants to stand for. This collectible is the second in a series of strictly limited t-shirts, during their creation DAIM put extreme emphasis on design, colors and packaging. Each of the 222 pieces is signed by the artist and comes in a unique tripack as well as with a special hang tag.
